Welcome to The Bermuda Police Service's Official Website.
We now hope our website provides an additional opportunity for the Service to maintain contact with the community we serve and to promote a better understanding of the work we do.
Policing in the year 2009 and beyond is focused on contributing towards the creation of more orderly neighbourhoods; creating less potential for criminality; having an impact on serious crimes and the drugs menace; working towards a sustained reduction in crime levels; managing the wide array of complex and often competing demands; understanding the diverse needs of our community and working in partnership at every available opportunity.

In order to achieve this, the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) developed a Policing Strategy for the Community and a Crime Management Strategy. Both of these strategies now contribute towards the objectives of community oriented problem-solving, targeting and partnership building. There is also the 2007-2011 Strategic Plan which is designed to bring out the best in our organization and those that work within it. This Plan sets out the approach that the BPS will undertake to address the issues that will have the most significant impact on service-delivery over the next four years. This Plan has been separated into three strands consisting of 13 elements. We have identified that Systems Management will be critical and all of the elements that have been identified in this strand will have a significant impact on how efficient and effective we are in addressing crime, drugs, traffic, and public order offences.
We also recognise that we must address issues surrounding our human resources so that we are getting productivity at the highest level from all of our staff. Also critically important, is the setting and maintaining of standards and the impact that a positive image in the community has on our ability to deliver quality service. These elements provide the framework for what we intend to do, and will shape the BPS’s ability to deliver the quality of service demanded by the Government and the community. Policing must instill confidence in the community we serve. We believe that our work can only be successful if the public trusts us for our accessibility, our ability to report on our performance and our integrity.
In the future, we hope to develop the interactive capability of this site to provide more services and information which will increase access to the community we serve.
